GEOMETRY INSPECTION

Geometry inspection

Calipers, particularly in pipeline in-line inspections (ILI), serve a crucial function in measuring and detecting geometric deviations in pipeline structures. Geometry inspection tools, or calipers, are specifically designed to detect any anomalies in the pipeline's internal geometry, such as dents, ovality, or wrinkles. These deviations, if left unchecked, can lead to significant operational challenges, including reduced flow efficiency and potential pipeline failure.

The mechanical system employed by these caliper tools is quite sophisticated. Each tool is equipped with arms supported by springs that make contact with the inner surface of the pipe. Whenever a deviation from the ideal round cross-section is detected—whether it be a dent, buckle, or other anomaly—the arms shift their positions, recording the exact nature and extent of the deformation. Given that these tools are multichannel, they can provide detailed information about internal diameter reductions and pinpoint specific anomalies, including their shape.

Unique solutions for geometry inspection for unpiggable pipelines are also available

Wide range of sizes

Furthermore, geometry inspection tools come in a wide range of sizes, from 6" to 56", allowing operators to inspect pipelines of varying diameters. This flexibility enables precise monitoring and management across both small and large pipeline networks, making it easier to maintain the overall integrity of the system.
Incorporating these tools into regular inspection routines is vital, as they provide

real-time, highly accurate data, enabling operators to make informed decisions about maintenance and repair. Whether the concern is a minor geometric deviation or a significant structural deformation, caliper tools ensure that no issue goes undetected. They are key to preventing potential threats to pipeline safety and performance.

Certification

ATEX (Group II, Category 2)

Our equipment is duly certified by the notified body in accordance with the requirements of  Directive 2014/34/EU  - ATEX as specified in "Specifications and requirements for in-line inspection of pipelines" issued by POF (rev. 2021) . Thus our tools are safe to use in the exposive areas and VERECO as an in-line inspection services provider complies with the highest industry standards ensuring safe and environmentally friendly approach to any job
